January 2010..... It's a Boy!

Well we now have a blog on the site folks! I'll drop in monthly to add some random musings and invite you to do same. It's a collaborative effort and a great way to stay in touch.
I'm on a musical hiatus for now, knee deep in diaper changes, wet burps, and pure wonder at the birth of our first son Jason this past December 28th. Our little miracle took about five years - it hasn't been easy for us - but well worth the wait. Everyone says the birth of a child changes your life - and it most certainly has for the better. Everything feels full circle now - and while I'm regretful it took me this long to realize this moment (most of my peers have children heading to college), I am nonetheless humbled and grateful for having him in our lives. My wife Jamie has been a champion throughout and she's going to be an awesome mother.
Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes via email, Facebook, etc. Many of my relatives have mentioned how "over the moon" my mother and father would have been over their little grandchild. I do believe they're watching over us and they know. While I was preparing the nursery, I had to clean the top drawer of a night table and came across a wedding photo of my parents. Inside the photo was my original birth announcement from the Toronto Star newspaper, 1960. I have no idea why I put this photo in this particular nightstand, nor do I recall the newspaper clipping. But to find both this photo and my birth announcement a week before Jason was born is magical and comforting.
Of course it goes without saying, my muse is hyper active these days....so don't be surprised to hear a few new songs in the coming months. I'll see you at the Coffee Gallery Backstage in April with my good friends Severin Browne and Michael Valentine.
PS. - You can now donate on iTunes directly to the Red Cross to aid in relief efforts for Haiti. Please do whatever you can..........Peace, Phil
